Lots of exciting stuff happened in the last couple of weeks. The most exciting happening was the long awaited arrival of chicks in Merediths kindergarten classroom. Meredith has a really brave teacher who got an incubator and 39 eggs and went for it. The kids patiently waited the 21 days for hatching...and then nothing. I think it was the 25th day that the eggs started to crack. I have to say it was entertaining for all of us to watch! I brought the 2 little girls into the classroom each day to see the progress of hatching. 15 little chicks were born!
To say the kids were excited is an understatment. You could feel the energy from our house down the street. Mrs. Cadwell was so patient and let the kids handle the chicks all they wanted.
Sofia and her 'buddy'
15 chicks and 15 students meant that each kindergartner got their own 'buddy' to play with for a day.
Crew liked to read to his buddy.
Cooper just wanted to hold his buddy.
Delany thought she was big time hanging with the kindergartners.
We got to eat lunch at school with Meredith last week to see what it's like to be a 1st grader. Meredith asks me every day how long it will be until 1st grade. Gonna be a long summer if she keeps this up!
We sat with Cooper and Leanne at lunch. Super jealous that Leanne had to leave to get on an airplane to Tahiti! Happy 10th Anniversary Scott and Leanne.
*Jesse, you have a year to plan. Call Scott for instructions*
On Sunday we hit up a Trica dance party. I just love their building, so creative!
Quinn taking a rest from dancing
Hudson and Delaney taking a breather.
I had to get a picture of how Quinn holds pens, like little talons.
There is some serious Beiber Fever happening here. Lordy.
Translation: Justin Beiber is cute.
Delaney is almost through with Mom and Tots at Wesleyan.
She can't wait to go to school without me!
Someone (sorry Jesse!) had the bright idea to volunteer to keep a couple of chicks over the weekend. The girls were thrilled at the prospect. One heat lamp and a plastic bin later and we were set! The girls love animals and had so much fun playing real live animal rescue with the chicks.
Sadly this little guy didn't make it through the first night at our house. I think he was sick and being handled by 500 school kids didn't help matters. RIP Fluffy Hamilton. Don't worry, we had a nice little memorial service.
What good times we had with Fluffy.
Quinn liked the chicks best on her lap.
Go West young chick!
These chicks kept my chicks entertained all weekend long!
